Like an alchemist of fabrics, Bellamy Jean, an English textile artist and designer, infuses her creations with palpable magic. Her pieces are not mere decorative elements, they are woven poems, stories embroidered with threads and colours. Each piece is made by hand and carries the spontaneous energy and unique gesture of the artist's hand.

Deeply research-driven, Bellamy’s practice explores the art of alchemy and the profound symbolism found in world religions, both past and present. Her visual language is a modern interpretation of ancient icons, brought to life through a lens of contemporary abstraction. 

Sekhmet is an ancient Egyptian goddess. Unlike softer maternal goddesses, Sekhmet represents the untamed, sovereign female: acting independently, emboding righteous rage — not chaos for its own sake, but destruction in service of cosmic balance (Ma’at). Both destroyer and protector, Sekhmet is typically depicted as a strong lioness or as a woman with a lioness’s head, often crowned with a solar disk.

The Sekhmet cushion is made in washed linen, with linen appliqué and embroidery. The backing is in Oxford cotton stripe.
