SETTLE BENCH by Another Country
Settle bench, design Fred Rigby for Another Country.
The Settle Bench is a contemporary take on an old vernacular design and is inspired by the architecture and landscape of Dorset.
A settle is traditionally described as a long wooden bench with backrest and arms, originating in Europe in the 10th century. It was apparently derived from the chest, a resemblance often retained, with additional elements based on the monastic choir stall. The height of the backrest varied considerably and sometimes extended down to the floor.
The Settle Bench is perfect as a seating bench in the dining room or as a hallway or mud room seat. The backrest is inclined, for greater comfort. A storage compartment is integrated in the seat.
Made in solid oak, which is oiled and waxed.
The Settle Bench is made in Portugal.
