STRIPPED BACCANTE by Julien Charles André
Sripped Baccante, Julien Charles André.
Julien Charles André contrasts antique prints (produced in 1699 by Thomassin) with modern mixed media, exploring new identities of ancient Greek gods in a pop-art inspired contemporary setting. The visuals depict the magnificent statues in the gardens of Versailles, symbolizing strength, glamour and sensuality. The mythical figures are dramatized by the dazzling bright colours and shining gold leaf surrounding them.
