Michael Ruh | Chiara Colombini

Using traditional glass blowing techniques and timeless tools, Michael Ruh creates each piece by hand. The parts are shaped by the force of his arms, by heat, gravity and time... Lines are inscribed in the glass, creating a particular texture. The beautiful translucent colors are inspired by Michael's travels in Europe or on the Road to the United States - the sunsets of the Midwest, the colors of the harvest in the Dakotas, the lush vegetation on the banks of the Mississippi River...

All parts are designed and manufactured by master glassblower Michael Ruh in his workshop in South London. Production is limited to a handful of handblown pieces per day, made of pure optical quality glass.

Michael trained at the Institut voor Kunst Ambachten and the Corning Museum of Glass (NY) with master glass blowers William Gudenrath, Ben Edols and Kathy Elliott before founding his own workshop in 2004. Its know-how is sought after throughout the world.
