Pholc is a Swedish design brand made up of several designers, which creates timeless and high quality lighting for contemporary spaces. Pholc was founded in 2015, but the parent company, Bankeryd, has been around since 1962.
Each of the designers brings their vision of the object to create a design specific to Pholc lights.
Mats Broberg and Johan Ridderstråle are both graduates of Konstfack Design University. They add emotional and symbolic value to their architectural and design work. Monika Mulder is a German designer who graduated from the Design Academy in Eindhoven, her designs received awards such as Best Swedish Design in 2001 and Best Furniture of 2003 by Elle Decoration. Sabina Grubbeson has her own design studio and works for different brands. Today, Sabina designs furniture and textiles, but lighting remains the major part of her work.
Pholc created the "Arty Nordic" style combining natural materials, clean lines with punk and urban elements inspired by Copenhagen or Gotland.
It is with a discreet and demanding philosophy based on the future, that the studio has carved out a place in the world of design, with fixtures that have become essential like the Pearls model. But also the ‘Mobil’ lamp which won the 2017 Elle Decoration Swedish Design Award for the best lamp, designed by Monika Mulder.
Our goal is to create versatile lighting solutions that are expressive, relevant, sophisticated and informed.
