Tom Rossau is a Danish designer whose work explores the relationship between geometry, light, and material. Born in Odsherred, a region on Denmark’s northwest coast known for its rolling landscapes and singular light, he carries with him a sculptural sensibility rooted in those surroundings, that continues to shape his design approach.
His journey began almost by chance, twenty years ago, while experimenting in his workshop with a series of wooden slats arranged into a cylinder. The way the shapes evolved under pressure fascinated him - and what started as a simple study soon became the foundation of a design language. Since then, light has become his material of choice, and each lamp, a living object that comes to life when illuminated from within.
Every piece is designed and produced in Denmark, at his workshop on Frederiksberg Allé in Copenhagen. There, a team of skilled hands carefully shapes each light, from the first fold to the final detail. Each lamp is signed by its maker - a quiet tribute to craftsmanship and care.
Tom Rossau’s creations are both sculptural and inviting. They reflect a continual search for balance, lightness, and sustainability - in both form and material, using low-impact resources. Always guided by curiosity, he creates poetic, tactile objects that interact with space and respond to the changing light of day.
