In 2013, Jean-marc Daniels and Pey Ching began Taiwan-Lantern to share their culture and lanterns with the world. They embarked on an adventurous journey to modernize design, optimize quality and return to using traditional natural materials. The creators works with the finest local artisans and Taiwan’s last traditional lantern factory, which has made handmade lanterns since 1951 for important temples throughout Taiwan.
Their rich traditions and well-preserved Taiwanese culture is over a thousand years old. In Taiwan, lanterns are a symbol of hope, joy and celebration.
With a new sense of creativity, they value the achievements of their wonderful Taiwanese history, heritage and craft.
Each lantern is hand crafted by local artisans using the finest materials. Wherever possible, they use natural and locally sourced materials from Taiwan.
